What is a ground anchor?
A ground anchor is a tendon — bar or strands — grouted into the ground, working in tension to restrain a structure. Passive or prestressed, temporary or permanent, it transfers the forces to stable horizons, away from the moving zone.
Anchors are used to secure a retaining wall that leans or cracks, to tie back a Berlin or nailed wall, or to stabilise a structure under earth pressure. Each anchor is designed — free length, bond length, working load — and then proven by pull-out tests.
