Concrete and masonry repair — restore without rebuilding
In reinforced concrete, water, carbon dioxide from the air and, by the sea, chlorides eventually reach the reinforcement: the steel rusts, expands and spalls the concrete covering it. Repair follows standard EN 1504: removal of damaged concrete, exposure and treatment of the reinforcement, rebuilding of the cover with repair mortar or shotcrete, then surface protection.
In stone or brick masonry, damage comes from washed-out joints, rising damp or movement of the support. Lime repointing, crack stitching, grout injection into hollow walls or replacement of units restore the wall’s cohesion. When the cause lies in the ground, it is dealt with first.
